My Foolish Jesus

crucifixion

My foolish Jesus

What are you doing?

surrendering in silence

with no fight, no resistance

My foolish Jesus

Why must you let go?

and let these walls of hate

crash upon you today

My foolish Jesus

How can you hold on?

with dignity, hope and even breath

when they usher you towards death

My foolish Jesus

Where is the light now?

smothered in the darkness

that hangs upon your breast?

My foolish Jesus

Will I understand tomorrow?

this loss is a time bending act of redemption –

a cosmic salvage operation

My foolish Jesus

When the dawn comes I will feel

How heavy and down-reaching

is this rain of sagacious love

that pours upon foolish me.                                              dm 2010

But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.                         I Corinthians 1:24-25 (NLT)
